Class on SUNDAY! Come and join us. We will be making our own configuration boxes. Only $25 and the price of the boxes. Make sure to bring several little "found" treasure that you can put in the boxes. Cute gift for someone or just a house decoration. Above is a picture of Jennifer's configuration box.

Birthday parties were very popular at Scrap It PLUS this summer. Whether it was 6 year olds or a combination of ages, all had a great time. I am so impressed by those who told me they still have their piece they painted as a child. I realize how very important this service is.

Paint Pottery PLUS

Bring your friends or family and come on down to our little workshop in Scrap it PLUS. You will have a great time sitting down and painting some pottery. Over 100 different colors to choose from and many different things to PAINT! All you got to do is Pick a piece of pottery, Pick a color and grab a brush!

Sign up for the next class -- This is JUST too much fun.

Oh, how much fun is this -- We are painting on furniture. We started out learning by creating a coat rack. Here Kim has designed her coat rack, and is now using the wood burner to create the pattern. Do you have to be able to draw -- No No No-- We have over 1000 dies that you can use to make a stencil of your choice. And remember, this is an expression of yourself -- so embrace you -- and remember at Scrap It PLUS, there are no mistakes.

Card Challenges

I love to do challenges that are presented. I used to do many of the challenges at SplitCoastStampers. After I opened the business, there was no time. But, I decided to do a few as the spirit moved me. . . not as I "had time" -- there is NEVER enough time.

Here are two cards I made for the challenges -- One was for a Clean and Simple design. Clean and simple is always hard for me -- I love layers, texture, more layers, etc. Can't do that with Clean and Simple.

The second is for two challenges-- One was to use staples on your card. The second was to use an inspiration. So here they are

Sunday from 3:00 - 5:00 is learn how to make the most of foil in your artwork -- whether it be scrapbook page, home decor, jewelry or a card. Here are two necklaces I made using the foil. Boy, can this get addictive.

Artist Trading Cards --ATC

The FIRST Thur of the month, from 6:30 - 8:00, we have an ARTIST TRADING CARD group --The group learns new techniques for paper AND TRADE their "Artist Trading Cards" --ATC that they have done using ANY technique.

What is an ARTIST TRADING CARD?
It is a card that is 2.5" x 3.5". (Like a Baseball Card) You can do any technique, any theme, anything -- The only rule is it needs to be 2.5 inches X 3.5 inches.

For our SIP group (Scrap It PLUS) it is different-- you get MORE

What are TECHNIQUES

BUT -- for OUR GROUP -- the SIP group, (SCRAP IT PLUS), we are asking that you stick primarily to two themes -- either do the technique of the last group, and/or the theme of the month. . .

Policies: One card is left in the store -- the others are traded. . . You can only trade as many as you trade minus ONE (for the store)




What does this mean? This group does three things --
• First, they learn a new paper technique from our guru artist, Jennifer Aldridge or pitch hitter or ScrapItPLUS owner, Jo Meyer. (Usually Jennifer).
• Second, they trade artist cards with each other.
• Third, they encourage each other to become better and better paper crafters.
• What does it cost?
As a ScrapItPlus member, the cost is FREE to learn the new technique. As a non-member, the cost is $5.
What if I don't have the supplies? If you don't have the supplies, you can use Jo's for an additional $5 materials fee. Bring your own, and there is NO materials fee.

All Things Tim -- Scrapbook pages

Tim Holtz gives us so much to think about and do with our creative juices. Here are a few scrapbook pages I put together using his papers, Ranger distressing inks, embossing powders and embellishments.

You can use a little, use a lot -- there are no right or wrongs.

Our Tim Holtz Club is going very well. Come join us. Try us one time to see if it is something you want.

Here is what we did at the last Club night. We used Grunge paper, and some blending techniques to make a picture that could be framed. It was so much fun.

We've been so busy

The home show is coming up in Grinnell. I want everyone who comes to know there is a new scrap booking store in town. So we are going --- ORANGE AND BLACK . Orange and Black -- Orange and Black. Just so Monte, Lynnville-Sully, Newton, BGM, etc won't be offended, we have included them as well.

Junior and Senior High students: It is easy to find scrap booking ideas for students who are "IN" everything -- art, band, athletics, etc. But, what about those students who choose to do OTHER things in their lives.

Well, I have been creating skateboarding pages, ATV pages, bike pages, school essential pages, (car, IPOD, cell phone,) friends pages and more etc.

I want everyone to know, these pages are for those of you who want nice but simple pages for your son or daughter. They are simple and easy to do. Just create one like them, or buy the basic kit, and add the embellishments you want. If you want to "scrap lift" -- what a complement to Scrap It PLUS -- and all of our staff who have contributed.
