I also used paper from his paper line to compliment my lovely birthday present -- Latte.

Artist Trading Cards --ATC

The FIRST Thur of the month, from 6:30 - 8:00, we have an ARTIST TRADING CARD group --The group learns new techniques for paper AND TRADE their "Artist Trading Cards" --ATC that they have done using ANY technique.

What is an ARTIST TRADING CARD?
It is a card that is 2.5" x 3.5". (Like a Baseball Card) You can do any technique, any theme, anything -- The only rule is it needs to be 2.5 inches X 3.5 inches.

For our SIP group (Scrap It PLUS) it is different-- you get MORE

What are TECHNIQUES

BUT -- for OUR GROUP -- the SIP group, (SCRAP IT PLUS), we are asking that you stick primarily to two themes -- either do the technique of the last group, and/or the theme of the month. . .

Policies: One card is left in the store -- the others are traded. . . You can only trade as many as you trade minus ONE (for the store)




What does this mean? This group does three things --
• First, they learn a new paper technique from our guru artist, Jennifer Aldridge or pitch hitter or ScrapItPLUS owner, Jo Meyer. (Usually Jennifer).
• Second, they trade artist cards with each other.
• Third, they encourage each other to become better and better paper crafters.
• What does it cost?
As a ScrapItPlus member, the cost is FREE to learn the new technique. As a non-member, the cost is $5.
What if I don't have the supplies? If you don't have the supplies, you can use Jo's for an additional $5 materials fee. Bring your own, and there is NO materials fee.

All Things Tim -- Scrapbook pages

Tim Holtz gives us so much to think about and do with our creative juices. Here are a few scrapbook pages I put together using his papers, Ranger distressing inks, embossing powders and embellishments.

You can use a little, use a lot -- there are no right or wrongs.

Our Tim Holtz Club is going very well. Come join us. Try us one time to see if it is something you want.

Here is what we did at the last Club night. We used Grunge paper, and some blending techniques to make a picture that could be framed. It was so much fun.

We've been so busy

The home show is coming up in Grinnell. I want everyone who comes to know there is a new scrap booking store in town. So we are going --- ORANGE AND BLACK . Orange and Black -- Orange and Black. Just so Monte, Lynnville-Sully, Newton, BGM, etc won't be offended, we have included them as well.

Junior and Senior High students: It is easy to find scrap booking ideas for students who are "IN" everything -- art, band, athletics, etc. But, what about those students who choose to do OTHER things in their lives.

Well, I have been creating skateboarding pages, ATV pages, bike pages, school essential pages, (car, IPOD, cell phone,) friends pages and more etc.

I want everyone to know, these pages are for those of you who want nice but simple pages for your son or daughter. They are simple and easy to do. Just create one like them, or buy the basic kit, and add the embellishments you want. If you want to "scrap lift" -- what a complement to Scrap It PLUS -- and all of our staff who have contributed.

Layouts -- Day 5

Ok -- Day 5 is here -- or maybe passed! Anyway, we are busy designing and making layouts for you to "scraplift", buy the layout and put it together yourself, or buy ones already assembled. And guess what, you can also come in and just buy the elements to put on your own design -- like a football, basketball, skateboard, etc. . .

What a fun day. Sam came down, (9 years old) used the Cricut Expression to create his page, and left before an hour was over. He knew what we wanted to do. (Yes, Sam, took the last beginning Cricut Expression Class) During the class, he and his beautiful sister were funny and wonderful. All the adults loved them. Sam had the knack of asking all the questions the adults wanted to ask.

This weekend, Carrie Martin and I worked and worked on duplicating layouts in the different school colors. We decided we are only going to do a FEW duplicates. What if I duplicated in 8 different schools, and no one wanted them . . . poor choice of time and resources. So YOU, the public will have to tell me whether you WANT this in YOUR school colors. . . I am SOOOOO willing, but time and resources sooooo limited. Come to the HOME SHOW, see your school's book, and the MASTER BOOK -- to see if you want the layouts.

Day 4

OK -- I admit it -- We're working on more layouts for the schools . Yes, right now we have 4 school colors and thinking about adding 3 more. How nice would it be to have the layout done -- Or at least, be able to come buy components so we can create your own layouts.

High School Seniors beware Newton, BGM, Zumas Tigers

I know -- You think this is JUST TIGERS -- as we speak, we are crating the exact layout for Zuma, BGM, Newton with a few modifications. . . (AKA--no Tiger logo)

Dewey, Mocha (our wonderful dog AKA Raccoon ) took a road trip to WI today. First time
we've been out of the store and town (Scrap It PLUS in Grinnell, Iowa) together for MONTHS. We held hands, had a wonderful dinner at the Amanas and sold a horse trailer. Don't worry, we still own my bigger horse trailer. Meanwhile, as Dewey was driving, I designed layouts on my portable device, the Cricut Gypsy. You will be seeing those components coming up in later posts.

Here is one of our Senior pages. Note: We make these pages elegant, simple, and easy to adapt. So simple for you to just add your photos and articles, etc. Design your own, use our individual elements, use our page layout kits -- but, come come come to Scrap It PLUS to get it done.

TIGERS, BEARS, Zumas, Cardinals

We’ve been busy designing and creating layout kits for your son or daughter. We are starting at preschool and going all the way up to graduation day. We have individual elements for sale, or you can buy the kit and put it together like similar to the one we created. When we are done, we hope to have most of the elements/la.youts for special times in the school life of your child.

So be it Orange and Black, Blue and White, Red and Black or Red, White and Blue we have it. Ok, we can do some custom colors if you wish.

OK-- Cricut has me obsessed

Ok -- I now admit it, the Cricut Expression has given me a new obsession. Ok -- At Scrap It PLUS, we have 90 plus cartridges to choose from.

Here is an image that I did for Nichole and the Cricut Circle Challenge #21-- We were to use the theme of an animal, and have at least two cuts. I used the Gypsy to make the 3" windows (Plantin Schoolbook Cartridge. ) I then took the same layout and reduced the windows to make the white mat. It took me less than 10 minutes to design this on the Gypsy. I now take my Gypsy everywhere.

The word, Nichole, is from Old West cartridge.

I love the look of the window. I will be reusing this layout for other pictures as well.

Cricut Cartridges

Cricut Cartridge Crazy! Jo keeps raking in more and more Cricut cartridges for us to use. If you are a daily or annual member, you can use the cartridges any time FREE. Bring your own Cricut and just enjoy. There are over 70 cartridges and counting.

And guess what! Jo and her team have also recently discovered a new website -- cricutsearch.com. This site lets you search for images you want to use. How wonderful is that? For example, we were looking for a bicycle. Typed in the word bicycle and sure enough, we had the cartridges and could cut out our bicycle. You can do so much. ~Come play with us~

Shadow Box

The Shadow Box! NEW at Scrap it PLUS! Come on in and see Jo's wonderful creation she did with shadow boxes. It is on display! Jo's moto is "There are NO mistakes, just a chance for CREATIVITY!" Jo tells us that while she was making Noah's 1st birthday shadow box she had cut the first picture to small. Not a big deal she says. I will just take the picture and make his name. As you can see below. Then she notices where are the balloons? They are cut out of the picture. So she remembers she has some wonderful balloon cut outs she can use. She ties some strings and glosses them up. Walla! Perfect. What great ideas we can share with each other at Scrap it PLUS.

Just as you can see, our lovely helper Tami, is helping a member with her Cricut. They are having so much fun. YOU can too!

Wall Hangings

Are you wondering why there is a PLUS in Scrap It PLUS? The PLUS is because when you join our playground you are always thinking outside the box! Just as Vonda is doing here! She brought her daughter, Maddy, down with to old paintings from Goodwill. The two of them covered the paintings with designs of their own using the Cricut Expression, Sizzix dies cuts, Tim Holtz die cuts, and their own IMAGINATION! Vonda recently joined her daughter, Maddy, as a member of Scrap it PLUS. So, come on down to see her wall hanging on display and create something too.

Marta and her 8 Godchildren

Wow!, Wow! Wow! What a story. Marta, who has 8 Godchildren, visited our Scrap It PLUS "playground" last weekend. She came to play with us. We learned Marta has a yearly tradition. She gives her godchildren a different book on their aniversary of their baptism along with an ornament. The ornaments go with the book she chooses. Marta told us she wants to learn something new every time she makes her yearly ornament. So, this year, she came to Scrap It Plus and learned to use the Cricut die cutting machine. Maybe she will soon decide to "swarm" on down with us carrying her very own Cricut like many of our other members. All the possiblity at Scrap it Plus.
